Company Profile
Spring Valley Laboratories, Inc. (SVL) has been maintaining laboratory animal colonies and
producing custom polyclonal antibodies since 1980. More recent additions to our services
include custom monoclonal antibody development/production and GLP-compliant
nonclinical safety studies. Our client list includes major universities, research
institutions, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and the National Institutes of Health.
Facility
The Spring Valley facility, securely situated in a 100 acre campus, has over 26,000
square feet of state-of-the-art laboratory and conventional, SPF and BSL-2 animal holding
and support space. The facility is operated within the guidelines set forth in standard
operating procedures, the NRC Guide for the Care and Use of
Laboratory Animals, and the Animal Welfare Act.
Health screening is performed for all species in the SPF facility on a
quarterly basis. We conduct serology assessments for common pathogens
for each species. In addition to serology, parasitology and bacteriology
are performed on an as needed basis or as requested from investigators. Animals
housed in the conventional colonies are screened on an as needed basis or
upon request from investigators. Animals may be transferred to SVL from
other facilities with proof of acceptable health status
Accreditation and Licenses
Spring Valley is licensed by the USDA (51-R-051) as an animal research facility and is
fully accredited by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory
Animal Care International (AAALACi). The facility has filed an Assurance of Compliance
with the Public Health Service Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory
Animals (OLAW A3731-01), and is licensed by the state of Maryland to use radioactive
materials. A DEA license to use Schedule 2 through 4 controlled substances is
also in effect. An Animal Care and Use Committee reviews and approves all study designs.
